Imagine this: You want to learn a new language, whether it be French, Japanese or Korean. You want to communicate with others without barriers. You have the goal of connecting to people you haven't met. The question is this: Are you that willing to learn?
This is the same with Innovation: If your willingness to learn to innovate is not 100%, then you're not ready for it. Learning without the willingness to learn is impossible - it's not learning at all!
If you are faced with this situation, what will you do? What can you do? Take these pointer questions as you go through this:
- What made you interested to learn this at first? Who/What has been your inspiration to learn from the start?
- To whom/what are you doing this for? Is it to impress at work? Is it to express your love to someone? Is it because you want to make great things for humanity?
- Where do you want to be in the future? Of course you will not stay fixed in one place, you curious one - you are bound to be somewhere, and the question is, where do you want to be in the future.
Innovation is also a way of learning through curiosity, and if you're not that questioning enough to yourself, you're not that innovative enough. We hope by giving these questions, you will be able to think of your next move.
For everything else related to Innovation, join our Innovation Master Class this Friday, June 23 at the Tower Club Makati, featuring Innovation Evangelist Mr. David Nosibor from Singapore.
It will be just a few days before this training program workshop happens, and if you reserve your seat right now, you can save more compared to paying your seat on-site. You
have created a business. Now you are part of the Philippine SMEs (Small and
Medium Enterprise).
Congratulations!
You
are now a certified entrepreneur in the country. A journey with lot of people are
dreaming to be in.
Now
what?
Of
course, you wanted to grow your business. To grow your business, you need to
promote it and gain new clients.
Nowadays,
there are a lot of promotional platforms that you can use. One of the best
platforms to use is the Expo.
Expo
or exhibition is a B2B event that allows you to create a showroom, invite
potential clients and meet other clients that you never imagined you.
Expo
gives you the presence and cuts the “I don’t talk to stranger” mentality by
potential clients.
For
one thing, the clients gave their time and effort to attend the SME Expo that
you are part of. Hopefully, as they see the need for your products and
services, you can encourage them to also give their money and invest in your
business.
This
simple and clear effect of the Expo is the reason why SMEs in the Philippines like
you should be joining the event.
It
is very effective in putting you out immediately to your target market. You can
easily measure the effectiveness of the event, after the event is finished.
But
one piece of advice, the calling cards and the clients you met during the expo,
you still need to make a follow-up.
Oftentimes,
the sealing of transactions doesn’t take place inside the SME Expo. It is
sealed after the event. This you should be conscious about and put the effort in
order to make your investment in the expo profitable.
So
now that you know the importance of SMEs participation on Philippine SME Expos
what are you waiting for?

Playing
catch-up.
This
is sometimes what we feel as event managers in the Philippines. We are
inundated with technological change. We are surrounded by new demands by clients
that have higher expectations.
And
this is an endless cycle, a cycle that we must live and accept.
Take
for example the typewriter machine, if someone during my college days will tell
me that it will be obsolete, I will raise a howl of protest. But as we all know
right now, the typewriter is a thing of the past; computers are now part of our
daily life. In fact, computers are in danger of being supplanted by
smartphones.
Indeed,
disruptions are everywhere. We are in a time of history that we cannot discount
an idea that is ridiculous or absurd at the moment to be valid and powerful in
the coming days or future.
Having
said this, the best thing that we can do is embrace the absurd that is right
in front of us in the event management industry.

It has been reported that the think-tank of Ayala Corporation, one of the biggest conglomerates in the country, helped the company's growth.
Its chairman and CEO Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala said in a speech that the said division, named Ayala Innovation, helped drive the conglomerate's growth. Recently, Ayala has invested in healthcare, education, e-commerce and financial technologies.
"Innovation and inclusiveness are not just within the purview of small companies. In fact, in light of today’s volatile times, I believe that conglomerates, given their sizable capabilities, can accelerate industry competitiveness and inclusive development through innovation," Zobel de Ayala told the participants of the Inclusive Innovation Conference just last week.
The following statements from Zobel de Ayala confirmed that they know very well what innovation is. "Innovation should serve a clear purpose. Innovation should address a problem or an unmet need—whether to improve business efficiency or to increase the affordability and accessibility of essential products and services to meet a broader segment of the population," he added.
This is a proof why your company should have its own think-tank - a group of innovators - to grow it. Innovate or perish - this is the new game for companies and organizations alike.
If your business is struggling to have its own think-tank, it's time to see the Innovation Master Class this June 23, Friday. This one-day innovation training workshop led by Mazars Asia Pacific's Innovation Evangelist David Nosibor, helps you get on the right track. Seats are filling up, so hurry and call (+63 2) 633-0153, 643-3887 or 535-1150; SMS (+63) 920 924 2532 or (+63) 920 981 4376; email info@exlinkevents.com or message us on our Master Class Philippines Facebook page.

Delivery of quality is an
aspect of event management that clients look for.
There are two levels of
delivering quality. First, deliver quality by delivering the agreed scope of
work that the clients wanted you to do. This is called the technical delivery
of quality.
Second, we are in a business
of relationship and the clients are humans too. This is the reason why deliver
quality based on emotion.
How? Surprise the clients,
do the extra mile, make a real connection and let the clients feel how involved
and invested you are in the success of his event.
Most of the times, the first
level of delivering quality is achieved. But clients do not make a repeat business
after that. We scratch our head what happened. What have we overlooked to lose the
business?
The answer resides in the
second level. It is up to us to figure out and work harder to fulfill that
second level of connection.

You can be mediocre. You can deliver more than expected.
You can be indifferent. You can choose to contribute and be valuable.
You can aim for the money and a short term relationship. You can show how good and important you are and gain a long partnership.
You can do underhanded tactics or play above-the-table. You can be disrespectful or choose the higher ground and show a character that a lot of people can emulate.
The event management industry is like the Star Wars Movie, you can go to the Dark Side or choose to stay, even if it is difficult, to be on the Light Side.
The force is in the middle it is up to you to tilt it to what direction you wanted to tilt it.
As an event management professional, there is always a choice.
