Heads up for everyone in Sales - we all have goals. Your manager has goals, your colleague, has goals, you have your own goals.
When there are goals, there are deadlines; but what if you have your deadline, you have your client, and your client was thinking so long that you might lose the opportunity to close the deal with them? Here's our tips on closing that deal fast:
- Constantly update them. Oftentimes, you need to get in touch with them so that they can remember you - a simple SMS or email update can do.
- Let your voice heard. Sometimes, SMS and email are not enough, so try to call them through landline or mobile while they're in office.
- Offer something new. Constant updating is not enough - consider as well giving them offers so they don't get bored with all the chit-chat you're doing. People like something new in every conversation.
If you do not want to have failed deals though, you might be interested in our offering: The Sales Leadership Masterclass with International Sales Expert and Author Tom Abbott. When investing on a business, make sure you're not putting everything in one basket. Putting your business in one place is not enough, and here's why:- Not every store has its set of regular visitors.

The PBEX last year was fruitful for the exhibitors and visitors, and it has been featured in business-oriented programs on TV:Ex-Link has managed a lot of Expos for the past 15 years, and this year, we'll be having the 8th Philippine Business and Entrepreneurs Expo this July 28 to 30 at the SM Megatrade Hall 1. Weeks ago, we saw in a newspaper ad a statement from a cancer hospital in China saying that the President did went to China but not at the hospital, as much as they wanted to see him. Then they introduced what the hospital is and what they do, then they pitched. To cap it off, they took the opportunity to greet everyone a Happy Chinese New Year.
That was weird, but it just worked well since they had the opportunity to share their side on things and to clarify the matter. It's like selling a product to everyone, and those who read their ad placement might have been put off. Here's the thing: they are pointing to an audience who needs treatment and can afford it. Nevertheless, they got their attention and interest, and they are expecting results from this.
Selling is not just about accomplishing things or getting results fast, it's more of making the most out of every opportunity. For this one, they took an out of the box approach, and that's great. Sales and Marketing do intertwine together, and this gets it. To that, we say "great timing."

It is perceived by some people that team buildings consist of silly ideas to enjoy or a vacation squander in extravagant places with their own circle of friends in their organization or company. These kinds of behavior consequently discredit the importance of team buildings – to increase efficiency and collaboration of every member in meeting perpendicularly with the purpose of the team.
Team building
Cooperation
Interpersonal skills
Team buildings are commonly created to test how effective communication takes place in your team. Interpersonal skills have to be augmented so they can properly utilize their method in resolving every obstacle they might face. In addition, since the activities require them to interact, it triggers their ‘muted’ ability to articulate better and be more open about themselves than their usual business-minded self.Adaptability
Every hardship always has challenges attached to it. Adaptability is one of the promising capacities of an individual to evolve alongside the repercussions of change and be able to influence it to other people. Rigid personalities must be molded into excellent team players. Team buildings are usually designed as a training ground to absorb and generate moral fibers applicable not just in your field of work but also to your everyday scheme.Trust
Trust is a valuable and definitely a BIG word. It can’t be earned that easily; it has to be worked on over a long span of time. However, there are exceptions. One of the by-products ofTask distribution
Just like a human body, team buildings comprise of systems organized to have a high-functioning circulation of activities. Task distribution is usually assigned to leaders. They are the ones responsible of just delegation of tasks to his/her team members in line to their strengths to bear the challenge and their weaknesses to obstacles predetermined by the leader itself. Fair delegation of tasks also defines a distinct line of being who’s in charge and who’s to follow accordingly.Mental Efficiency
Minds are magnificent machines. It is the source of powerful ideas and burningOn a lighter note, team buildings are known to promote both physical and mental stamina through series of activities and games. These activities will help tone our brain muscles and eliminate the rusts generated by daily dose of stress.
If you feel like you’re team is being clamped down, gravitated by unknown forces. Make sure to apply all the objectives above in planning a wholesome team building. Having mentioned that, of course not all of us have the luxury of time to figure all this out. However, you can call event management’s own version of 911.
A team that undergo through these objectives in team buildings can now face problems like a piece of CAKE – in a Calm, Attentive, Knowledgeable and Engaging approach. (Queenie May Camu)

Rohit Talwar, CEO of United Kingdom–based
Fast Future Research in an interview conducted by BizBash said, “We have to stop thinking of our events
as one-offs and start to see them as platforms for year-round engagement—the
focal point of an ongoing experience. For event owners, we have to look at ways
of monetizing the event beyond physical attendance—packaging and reselling
event audio, video, and presentation content to those who were unable to attend.
The standard event business model of one-price-fits-all will need to evolve,
with options such as premium pricing and per-session pricing coming in.”
This powerful
shift is something that will not only redound in Europe and North America but
also in Asia.
As more and
more changes and disruptions are taking place there is a need for the event
management industry to go in this direction. For two reasons, add more value to
the public and maximize the profit (On the
Future Now: Making Sense of Our Always On, Always Connected World).
We now enter
the Age of Attention Economy, where the content has grown increasingly abundant
and immediately available, attention becomes the limiting factor in the
consumption of information.
In this
Attention Economy, the event management industry must be able to fight and
prove that it is worthy of the limited attention of the consumers. In
conferences, it must provide a worthwhile content because information is now
accessible everywhere. Therefore, conferences and event owners must work hard
to create content that is a must experience to its target audience.
After the
creation, it must implement and extend the value and mileage it can get out of
it. While trying to accomplish this, it must keep in mind the satisfaction of
the public.
The biggest
shift in the event management industry is a hard pill to swallow, but we have
no choice but to take it. It is something new to us. It is something that does
not guarantee an immediate positive results, it may even spell a major disaster
for us.
I remember a
scene in the Matrix the Movie where Neo was having a difficult moment in his
decision-making, whether to take the blue pill or red pill offered by Morpheus.
In Morpheus words, “ This is your last
chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill – the
story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe.
You take the red pill – you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the
rabbit-hole goes.”
We know what
happened to Neo, I am not saying the same fate awaits us. But by all means we
must take the red pill and use our adaptive abilities to control and manage the
change and shifts that are taking place.

We've just had the Miss Universe pageant in the Philippines, where Miss France Iris Mittenaere is crowned in the pageant's 65th run. While most of us are focusing on the top 13 or top 9 to top 5, we are focusing on the host of the pageant itself - Steve Harvey, who had a blunder last year, has redeemed itself and "got it right" this time.
Everyone has had its gaffes, and some were worse; like that one time your sales team didn't get the quota. Especially that one. While you do not want to look at the failure, it still hits everyone hard, as if they had no hope of getting through the rest of the quarter. Worse, some of your team members may take the job that they are having for granted.

While you do not want to look at the failure, it still hits everyone hard, as if they had no hope of getting through the rest of the quarter. Worse, some of your team members may take the job that they are having for granted.
If you, your team members or the team as a whole are experiencing these, it's time to take a break and think: What could have been done better? What could have been halted? Do we need an "escape plan" now? You can think of your happiness at work first, then after you learn through the next action plan that you and your team had set, work on it.
Steve Harvey was able to rise through the miss that he had, albeit nervous, through the right plan and a funny attitude. Notice that he made this year's pageant livelier. You can do that too, and your team can get back on its feet.
