Once again, Mother Nature reminds us how fragile life is. With one calamitous sweep of wind and rain, the world’s deadliest typhoon of 2011 hit land on the thriving cities of Iligan and Cagayan de Oro in mid-December, striking at the dead of night.
At its wake, Typhoon Sendong caused the death of 1,500 while over 500 are still missing. It cleared and buried 42,000 homes, leaving nearly 55,000 individuals from more than 5,500 families in evacuation centers. Homeless and desolate, victims of Sendong now rely on the warmth of a kind hug and the reassurance of a helping hand.
Known for its bayanihan spirit, feisty Filipinos were up and ready to provide food and water, basic necessities and medicine. As with Typhoon Ondoy in 2009, everyone was eager to do their own little bit to help.
Members of Advertising Suppliers Association of the Philippines, along with friends from the United Print Media Group, the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas and the Philippine Association of National Advertisers, as well as the Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies of the Philippines, the Independent Blocktimers Association and the Technical Group for Events and Entertainment of the Philippines join forces to create one meaningful fund-raiser to sustain Sendong relief efforts.
This powerhouse group of the country’s advertising industry is Cause I’m Sendong All My Love for You, so to speak, in a variety show and concert on January 28 at the Quezon City Memorial Circle. Supported by the Quezon City local government, and with performances by local artists also on a mission to spread hope, Cause I’m Sendong All My Love for You is sure to be a massive endeavor.
Aimed at generating P1.5 million through a variety of sponsorship packages from P10,000 to P100,000, sponsors are invited to send their donations to Cause I’m Sendong All My Love for You fund-raising concert. All proceeds from sponsorships and donations will be coursed through the Pelaez Foundation and the Philippine National Red Cross. Typhoon victims still in desperate need of assistance will benefit through shelter rehabilitation and home building projects.
‘Cause I’m Sendong All My Love for You is a one-of-a-kind production crafted specially by topnotch industry leaders who have pledged their involvement and services in full commitment in the spirit of hope and goodwill. -*-

Now that the global warming effects are being felt greatly. It is time to apply the iron hand in implementing the Green Economy.
In Tourism, it is always wrong to improve a site if you will destroy it's natural beauty. A wrong sense of tourism that will keep away tourists.
The point is to start and after that the rest becomes easy.

The new logo of the Department of Tourism gained a lot of positive feedback from the industry and around the country.
Indeed, it depicts who we are as a people.
Now as Senator Dick Gordon commented beyond the logo is the infrastructure and preparation to deliver the promise. Our tourism system must be solid to welcome the influx of tourists.
May I humbly suggest the following:
1. Finish and ensure the Clark Airport is a world class infrastructure.
2. Transfer International Flights to NAIA 3.
3. Renovate or Sell NAIA 1.
4. Give Incentives to local MICE Companies.
5. Bid for International Events Aggresively.
I will expound the importance of all these recommendations in succeeding blogs. For now this will be enough.
I strongly believe It's More Fun in the Philippines!

The rain never stopped yesterday. The whole day is like
going to the bathroom and taking a shower. The city landscape is gray. The
roads are like a glass window. For some, it is a gloomy day. Another wet and
cold day aggravated by the terrible metro traffic.
On the other side, the rain is a blessing. A continuous rain
is a continuous blessing of life. Rain cleans the air of pollution and increase
the level of oxygen.
In one part of the city, this is what took place in
Megatrade. A Blessing was opened the MegaBalikbayan OFW Expo – an event
promoting entrepreneurship and business to OFWs and Balikbayan.
The event has more than 250 exhibitors. The exhibitors are
showcasing different business opportunities to the OFW and Balikbayan. This is
a contrast to what is happening in the lower floors of the venue where a
Christmas Sale is going on.
In the event, investment is being promoted and below
spending.
Yesterday, the first activity of the event is the awarding
of the 2011 Outstanding OFW and Balikbayan Reputation Award (OBRA). An award
that aims to recognize OFW and Balikbayan models of inspiration to the
following category: Entrepreneurship, Community Builder, Family Builder,
Positive Character/Deed, and Work Ethics.
More than the awardees receiving their plaques, the precious
moment in the awarding ceremony are the story telling of the awardees on their
struggle to be successful and triumphant in the challenges of life.
The awardees stories can energize you to go to greater
heights. Their stories can also make you cry and refreshed your soul with the
understanding of how human spirit’s power move mountains.
The MegaBalikbayan OFW Expo happens every year and always
attracts a lot of visitors and exhibitors. But more than these two elements the
event happens to be a strong statement that OFWs and Balikbayan must shift to
being entrepreneurs. This is the only path that can ensure sustainability of
the quality of life that OFW and Balikbayan have gained.
The event runs today and tomorrow. If you wanted to be
inspired or be an entrepreneur then by all means do not miss any moment and be
inside the event and basked at the different things that you can see, hear and
feel.
