Saturday, August 09, 2014
People Management Association of the
Philippines (PMAP) supported
by the Management Association
of the Philippines (MAP) will be holding
the National Wellness Summit scheduled this August 28, 2014 at SMX
Convention Center. The event is a co-located event of the International Beauty, Health and Wellness Expo (IBHWEX). The event will discuss and prepare business leaders in incorporating
corporate wellness in their organization. The event is expected to be attended
by their 500 company members. The said event will also feature Exhibits of Best
Wellness Practices of member companies.
According
to the study of International Labor Organization (ILO) which revealed that every day, 6,300 people die as a result
of occupational accidents or work-related diseases and more than 2.3 million
deaths per year and 317 million accidents occur on the job annually resulting
in extending absences from work. The human cost of this daily adversity is vast
and the economic burden of poor occupational safety and health practices is
estimated at 4 per cent of global Gross Domestic Product each year.
With this alarming data, business owners and entrepreneurs realized that they
have to start adopting corporate wellness in their
organization - a proactive approach to help employees avoid risks in acquiring diseases. Studies have showed that Health at Work Programs
can be very effective at reducing injuries, illnesses and fatalities, and may
transform workplace culture that can lead into higher productivity, quality of
life, and greater employee satisfaction.
The
event features the following learning topics and resource speakers: Psychosocial
Health and Culture of Care by Dra. Ma. Lourdes A. Carandang of Ateneo De Manila
University, Incentives and Outcome-Based Wellness Programs , From Bandage to
Liberation, Understanding Emotional Intelligence, Organizational Spirituality,
Small Steps for Sound Physical Awareness and Social Shift.
